Once in a Blue Sea glass ring and Friends

It has been a long time since I've visited this blog of mine. I do not know why, I guess I wanted to take a small break, refresh the ideas in my mind or whatever...

Lately I've added a new Blue Sea glass and Silver ring to my shop:

Silver Metalwork and Blue Sea Glass Ring

I picked this unusual piece of glass from a collection I have in my studio and looked it over from all angles then decided to handcraft  a ring with it. Here's a compliment I received from one of my friends :"Everyone knows I hate blue, but this ring I would wear gladly!".... Funny girl. But sweet - don't you agree?

As it is rather boring to write only about my own stuff,  I looked around my Etsy favorites under the term "Blue" and found some gorgeous items which I believe you would love too.
I'll begin with this awesome blue card:

I picked it up from the Bold Folds shop run by Dr. Batsheva Gillat 
 As the shop owner tells us, her art began as a passion which became an obsession. She invests endless hours of love in her wonderful hand made cards.
She has been doing these amazing art works for no less than 40 years!

In her work she uses various techniques, such as Cut-out.Pop-up,Unit or Modular Origami and more.

Personally - her shop is one of the most unique I have found on Etsy! Way to go Batsheva!

The second unique art piece was this Beautiful Ketubah

Ketubah birds of Paradise by Anna Kronick

I have found artist Anna Kronick in my  "On Fire for Handmade" team.
The Ketubah is a traditional document-agreement  written in Hebrew which every Jewish bride  receives from her groom upon their wedding, in which he commits himself to take care of her for the rest of their life together.

This papercut by Anna Kronick is a unique design which she  hand cut  from a single piece of silkscreen paper, then embellished it by a mosaic of colorful paper, Whimsical birds and traditional motifs. It is a beautiful work of art and a keepsake.

More Solid Natural Opal Rings

Most silver jewelry shops in my country have beautiful showcases with stunning jewelry items with Opal stones.in all sizes. The stones are mostly light blue with tiny flashy pieces in them. These Opals are actually a very thin layer of Opal stones with a piece of silicone attached to the back to strengthen them. Without the silicone these stones simply fall apart.


In contrast to the a/m stones, the ones which I use myself for setting in my own jewelry are totallty solid Opal stones, which I purchase directly from their cutters.


Recently I have handcrafted three new Koroit Opal rings from Solid Opal Stones which come from the Koroit Opal mines in Queensland Australia

This stone is amazing. The colors are brown horizontal strips with stunning ochre in the middle and a spray of turquoise which glimmers with tiny hints of red .Reminds me of a miniature abstract painting.

The sterling band of this ring is wide rounded and thick and proportionate to the size of the stone.
The stone  is amazing. Very unique!!
The colors are brown horizontal strips with pale sky blue stripes and a deep turquoise one.

Do I sound like I'm in love with these stones? - You bet I am!

Ellen Mackler runs Etsy shop Gmaellen. Ellen comes from a family where both grandmothers were very talented in  various crafts and  both  have inspired her greatly. Of all crafts she crochet is her favorite. The items she offers in her shop are both beautiful and functional.
The item I chose for this post is this beautiful flower garland lariat, made of fine peach colored vintage linen and measures about 36 inches long.

My new Blue beachglass jewelry ring and friends

very once in a while a customer asks me about a ring with beach/sea glass set in it. I then go to a box in my workshop where I keep all treashures of beach glass pieces, and search for a piece which may be suitable. I made the ring, then added tiny peices of 14k gold and a bezel and finally set the glass in it.

As I looked for more Etsy shops with items whose subject would be the beach and sea, I found some very nice shops.The first was this one:

A beautiful print by a wonderful artist whose Etsy shop name is AlisaPaints.
The print is a copy of an original  painting  with soft pastel colors displaying two pretty girls seeking for sea shells on the beach.

 I went on with my search and found those awesome pieces of what looked like broken pieces which the sea has tumbled for years upon years. The pieces were collected by two people, Sierra and Lonnie, who live on Kawaii and are the owners of the Etsy shop KauaiShellsandMore.

 They collect the pieces from the shores of Kauai in Hawaii.
